Rule of law must prevail Ex-Katikkiro’s case

12th-18th July 2010

The impending prosecution of former Buganda Katikkiro [Prime Minister] Joseph Mulwanyamuli Ssemwogerere for allegedly contravening the country’s social security law has in the last week become the hottest topic for discussion among Ugandans.  Like many law abiding Ugandans, we hope that this is “prosecution” and not “persecution”. Ofwono Opondo can say what he likes

By Geoffrey Obiny

Ofwono can say whatever, but the fact is that if anyone was to fight for ‘lost/stolen’ elections, it would not be Museveni but Ssemogerere. We also know how Museveni and his NRMO have segregated against nationals who are perceived as enemies in every sector of life. I am dying for the day he departs and leaves Uganda in peace. May God hurry up that day!

Ogole’s crime was to chase M7 from Luwero

By Dedin Matovu

I do not think Ogole is a wanted man for Luwero crimes.  His biggest crime was chasing Museveni out of Luwero within six months of deployment.  Any fool can read and understand the bitterness Museveni has on Ogole. (more…)

ICC must investigate Museveni

By Nabutono Emaculate

Museveni has actually convicted himself even before the ICC has done it. Why?  Because this man, from day one when he took power, he only talks of killing people.  One of his most noted catch-phrases is “we have killed them”. (more…)

NRM govt hits back at Ogole and UPC

5th–11th July 2010

By Timothy Nsubuga

Ofwono on the left

The ruling NRM government has hit back at the numerous claims that Col. John Ogole, he of the Luwero Triangle war, has been making in an exclusive interview series that is being run by Uganda Correspondent.  In a bid to straighten and or counter what he called “Museveni’s propaganda campaign” against him, Ogole broke his 25yr political silence three weeks ago when he, among other things, asked “who the real butcher of Luwero is”; prompting numerous responses from interested parties. I will fight or shake hands with Museveni, says Ogole

Ogole & Besigye in Ldn

Last week, Uganda Correspondent ran the first of part of Col. John Ogole’s “Luwero Specific” interview in which he talked at some length about what he thinks has been Museveni’s concerted propaganda campaign against him.  The responses to that story have been very interesting.  Reacting to that interview, one Uganda Correspondent reader said, “…this is a sign that even what has been wrapped up in propaganda, buried and forgotten, when unwrapped can still shed light on what really happened. I think Col Ogole kept quiet for so long, let’s hear from him as well”. Another reader added that,“…the real butchers of Luwero are the people who mercilessly Left the skull of their victims lying on display like tomatoes on sale by the road side. That was disgusting and unforgivable. (more…)
