Michelle Obama does charity to remember 9/11

As the world marked the 9th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York, US First Lady Michelle Obama joined hundreds of volunteers to help renovate a retirement community for veterans in McLean-Virginia.
Under an initiative known as “Mission Serve” that brings together civilian and military communities through service and volunteerism, she worked alongside active duty members of the military, wounded warriors, veterans, military spouses, and students.
In a press statement, she said she was inspired by the selflessness of many Americans in the aftermath of the terror attacks. “Like many Americans, I was shocked and horrified by the attacks on our country. But I was also inspired by the heroism and selflessness of so many of my fellow Americans in the wake of this tragedy”, the US First Lady said.
It’s that spirit of selflessness and service that inspired the first September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance last year. On this day, Mrs Obama added, “…all Americans can honor the brave men and women who lost and risked their lives by serving others in their community”.
She thus urged Americans to go out in their thousands and volunteer at their local communities with offers to clean, cook, paint, and build for the needy. END. If it’s Monday, it’s Uganda Correspondent. Never miss out again!
