Youth must rise up before Muhoozi takes over

Museveni’s rap!  Its purpose was obvious, wasn’t it?  Everybody saw right through it and concluded that it was a grotesque attempt to excite vulnerable young minds into identifying with him, and possibly, voting for him.

It is sad.  Uganda’s youth represent its future.  That means anyone who tries to mislead and hoodwink them with a pursuit as trivial as a rap song only has ill intentions for the Republic of Uganda.

For 25yrs, Museveni has failed or deliberately refused to create jobs for our youth.  More than anyone else, Museveni knew that an economically empowered youth population will not be swayed by his brown money envelopes that have become the symbol of the NRM’s political corruption.

That is why he found it politically prudent to keep them in perpetual poverty.  How can it be then that it is the same Museveni who is now fooling our youth with a silly rap song?

For 25yrs, Uganda’s youth have died needlessly from preventable or easily treatable diseases; all because Museveni has failed to uplift the very sorry state of our national health service.  Most, if not all the money kindly donated to Uganda by Western donors has been stolen from under Museveni’s nose by people who are closely associated with him.

Not even one of Museveni’s many thieves have been held accountable by his government.  So how can Museveni fool our constantly sick youth with a gangster rap song while he sends his daughter/s and relatives abroad to get proper medical treatment?

For 25yrs, our youth have died in road accidents because of Museveni’s poor transport policies and the atrocious roads that his government has failed to fix.  In fact, not only has his government failed to fix the bad roads, his bogus roads authority even refused to use 2.5billion shillings that it could have used to partially address the problem.

For 25yrs, it is Museveni who has often sent his bloodthirsty soldiers and policemen to shoot down our youth whenever they tried to demonstrate against the social injustices created by his government.

Makerere University students, the victims of the “Kayunga Riots”, and hundreds of our youth who had been forcefully abducted by Joseph Kony’s LRA were killed by Museveni’s agents of death.  “We shall massacre them”, his men proudly say.

For 25yrs, hundreds of thousands of our youth have suffered the indignity of walking around half-naked because they simply can’t decent trousers, shirts, dresses, and skirts.

This 2011 election should therefore be “payback time” for our long suffering youth.  And to our youth I say:  Go out in your millions and cast your protest vote against Museveni.  It doesn’t really matter whether you vote for Besigye, Otunnu, Mao, Bidandi, or even the big joke that is Beti Kamya.  Just make sure it’s not the same Museveni who has caused you immeasurable suffering over the last 25yrs.

And here is the most important message of all:  If Museveni steals your votes again like he did in both 2001 and 2006, do not accept the result.  Instead, I urge you to rise up in your millions and use any means [yes any means] at your disposal to defend your victory.  It is your right; not a privilege granted by a vicious dictator!

This election is a make or break election; and for good reason!  If you don’t kick Museveni out now, it is more than likely that Museveni’s son Muhoozi will inherit the tyrannical regime from his father come 2016.

It is now or never because if that happens, then you should know that a young energetic Muhoozi will be twice as difficult to uproot; not least because he too will want to rule as long, or longer than his father.

Uganda belongs to us all, and especially you the youth.  Museveni has no right to treat our country like his long horn cows.  Our youthful soldiers too have shed their innocent blood fighting in Museveni’s senseless wars of aggression.

They too must now think very carefully whether they still want to put their lives on the line to defend a man who doesn’t care about their welfare.  The choice is theirs.  They either join the people now, or they will all be treated as enemies of freedom when the time comes.

History has taught us that that is a certainty when a stubborn dictator ignores all calls to take the path of peace.  END. Please log into www.ugandacorrespondent.com every Monday to read our top stories and anytime mid-week for our news updates.
