Mao releases Buganda campaign strategy

DP Boss Norbert Mao

DP’s presidential candidate Norbert Mao on Friday 10th finally released his party’s “Buganda Campaign Strategy” in Kampala while meeting party members from Buganda region.

Mao said his campaigns in Buganda would henceforth be conducted jointly with DP’s party flag-bearers for various posts. “…When I start campaigns here I would wish to see all DP candidates at all levels. We shall move village to village together”, Mao said.

He added that while his party had attracted considerable support in other regions, Buganda remained its stronghold and vowed to consolidate the 50yr party’s support in the region.

He said his Buganda campaign task force was now busy printing joint posters with his picture and those of other party flag-bearers at parliamentary and local council levels. “…By doing this we hope to save more money on printing posters and use it for other party activities.  We also hope to launch an aggressive media campaign very soon”, Mao said.

He however appealed for more donations, saying the party still needed money to carry out campaigns.  Mao revealed that on average, he spends about 5million Shillings on his campaign expenses every day and added that the party will need at least 300million Shillings on the polling day itself.

So far, Mao has campaigned in Busoga, Lango, Karamoja and Bunyoro. His campaign programme indicates that he is expected to start campaigns in Buganda on January 6th with a rally in Lwengo District.

The DP leader took a swipe at some DP party members that he accused of being “disrespectful” of his leadership and pose as if they own the party. “…No one should pose as an historical in DP. We are all equal and we must follow the law”, Mao said.  END. Please log into www.ugandacorrespondent.com every Monday to read our top stories and anytime mid-week for our news updates.
