Police accused of extra-judicial killing, torture, extortion

28th March 2011:- The Ugandan police’s Rapid Response Unit [RRU] frequently operates outside the law, carrying out torture, extortion, and in some cases, extrajudicial killings, Human Rights Watch has said in its latest report.

28th March 2011:- US President Barack Obama has issued a stern warning to embattled Libyan Leader Col. Muammar Gaddafi to immediately halt his regime’s attacks on civilians.

NSSF gets new Deputy Managing Director

28th March 2011:- The National Social Security Fund [NSSF], the workers organisation that has become infamous for its huge corruption scandals, has appointed Ms Geraldine Ssali as its new Deputy Managing Director.

The Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic development, Hon. Syda Bumba made the appointment in accordance with Section 39 of the National Social Security Fund Act.  According to a statement released by NSSF Board Chairman Mr. Vincent B.
