Former Buganda PM Mulwanyamuli

Former Buganda Prime Minister Mr Joseph Mulwanyamuli Ssemwogerere has praised the deceased former Uganda Freedom Fighters [UFF] founder member Mr. Kibuuka Musoke, calling him a hero of Uganda’s liberation struggle.  Kibuuka passed away in August this year after suffering from heart attack and his body was laid to rest at Liverpool in the United Kingdom.

Mulwanyamuli praised the late Kibuuka whom he said was a brave man who fought to liberate his country especially when his UFF party made an alliance with the former Uganda People’s Movement, which later turned into the National Resistance Movement which forms the current government in Uganda.

Together with the late Ugandan President Prof. Yusuf Lule, Dr Andrew Kayira Lutakome, Balaki Kiira, and Dr. Peter Senabulya, the late Kibuuka was one of the founding members of UFF. Kibbuka was recently recognized as one of Uganda’s heroes.

Mulwanyamuli made the remarks during a memorial service for the late Bernard Kibuuka Musoke, on Sunday, October30, at Praxis Hall, Bethnal Green in London.  The service was organized by United Kingdom-based Buganda organization to commemorate Kibuuka Musoke’s life.

The former Katikkiro also urged Ugandans living in the Diaspora to support all the Kingdoms’ initiated projects back at home in Uganda.  “…There is need for Baganda living in the Diaspora to support Buganda’s projects.” he said.  He cited the Buganda Trust Fund project which he said needs a lot of support for the Kingdom to help her people out of poverty and save them from selling off their land.

He also said such support will help to unite and create a bond between Baganda wherever they live and their Kingdom back in Uganda and emphasized the need to focus on interests that benefit everyone instead of harboring selfish interest that benefit only a single person.  “…Lack of unity is our greatest enemy in Baganda because it weakens the Kingdom providing an advantage to its opponents.” Mulwanyamuli said.

Mulwanyamuli called for a spirit where people evaluate their input towards the development of their Kingdom before querying what the Kingdom has done for them.  At the end of the ceremony, Owekitibwa Mulwanyamuli launched the website for Obuganda Nnamaddala at www.obuganda-nnamaddala.com END.  Please login to www.ugandacorrespondent.com every Monday to read our top stories and anytime mid-week for our news updates.
