NRM philosophy is like Hitler’s Nazism

By M. Suleman

16th July 2012: The NRM fiasco in Arusha, Museveni’s outbursts at Mbabazi and Kadaga, the many parliamentary seats the NRM is losing in bi-elections, the continuous squabbles among the NRM leadership, and especially among MPs, all portray the NRM as a house on fire.

Amidst all that, NRM MP Ssekikubo also comes with his deceptive backbench cabinet that he hopes will hoodwink Ugandans.  A backbench cabinet is a senseless joke – and part of the NRM propaganda aimed at diverting serious Ugandans from the struggle against the regime.

A serious look at the history and character of the NRM clearly shows that there is no need to even listen to Ssekikubo.  The NRM was, is, and will always be the product of one man’s dream – a man who, we are told, dreamt of not only of becoming a president of Uganda, but an emperor for life!  It was, therefore, a dream similar to that of Adolf Hitler.

And, in an unexpected turn of events in 1986, (exactly like Hitler) the dreamer woke up as president of Uganda.  Regardless of his bizarre behaviour, even in the early days of his presidency, many Ugandans – kind as they are, gave him the benefit of the doubt and joined him in the mistakenly belief that he was a patriot with a vision that would leave a positive footprint on the country.

However, by 1996, many well meaning Ugandans, educated or not, had started realising that Museveni had little interest in the progress of Uganda.  His political programme had little or nothing to do with real democracy.  His economic programme was inconsistent – and bizarre!  It was therefore clear that the country had been taken for a ride.

Opposition In-Cohesion

Despite their historical rivalry, DP and UPC unanimously agreed to cooperate in the 1996 election to save Uganda from the dreamer.  But they were late.  Museveni had done his homework – the opposition participation simply solidified his claim to legitimacy and continued hold on to power.

Around the same time, patriotic Ugandans who had been hoodwinked to join Museveni in Luwero also began realizing that Museveni’s NRA/NRM had no programme for Uganda.  Dr Besigye consequently led the group that tried to reform the NRM from within, until they were ejected from the party.  With that, the NRM had cleansed itself of all patriotic Ugandans.

Those who remained in NRM, just like those who join it today, are very clear about their mission – and serving Uganda is not one of them.  Like Hitler’s Nazis, the core philosophy of the NRM is a psychotic belief that there is only one man with the “vision” to lead Uganda, and that the NRA/NRM must remain in power for as long as Museveni lives.

And for as long as he lives, the NRM will continue selling Uganda, and it will continue running an arrogant, militaristic, predatory government.  Like in Animal Farm, there can never be internal NRM disagreement on the supremacy of the “NRM Pigs” over other “Opposition Animals”.

To the opposition I say this:  Forget Ssekikubo’s backbench cabinet nonsense.  Remain focused on efforts to save the Republic of Uganda from the NRM Pigs.  For nearly 27 years, they have never served Uganda’s interests, and are not about to begin now.
