Museveni praises Kibaale people for unity

By Sharon Tibenda

25th March 2013:

President Museveni has hailed the people of Kibaale for their unity in spite of the multi tribal backgrounds, and called on them to promote income generation for national development. “I am happy that the people of Kibaale are living in harmony today contrary to the past situation where immigrants were promoting sectarian tendencies,” Museveni said.

The President made the remarks last week as he met local leaders from Kibaale and Kagadi led by the Minister of State for Finance Matia Kasaijja, at his Rwakitura home.

Museveni said he was happy that the people of Kibaale-Kagadi embraced the culture of the Banyoro and even sang the national anthem to signify unity and togetherness.

He said government is committed to developing infrastructure, which he said is very crucial for development and service delivery in the form of electricity, health centres, schools etc.

Among other things discussed at the meeting was the decision of government to halt the creation of new districts, prioritization of development projects in the region, and income generating activities.  END: Login to www.ugandacorrespondent.com every Monday to read our top stories mid-week for our updates
